Week 3, March 28 - 30
March 28 - Mrs. Nielson presented CDA#14, the majority of which was power posing. She talked about how power posing can cause physiological changes in your body that can benefit you when applying for a job, or even when taking a test. The video we watched as a part of our discussion was titled Amy Cuddy: Power Poses, and can be found on youtube. If you were absent you can watch the referenced video and write a paragraph about what you learned.
March 29 - I introduced our next activity, Biomechanical Engineering, with a slide show I had prepared. We also had a class discussion designed to acquaint students with different aspects of Biomechanical Engineering and give them a foundation of knowledge necessary to complete the activity.
March 30 - We resumed the slide show and discussion. At the end I described the design problem, which is that students will work with a partner to engineer and build instruments necessary to simulate laparoscopic surgery. We took a few minutes to learn what we could about the design problem. Students started their Engineering Journal, and chose a partner to work with. We finished up by spending a few minutes brainstorming ideas for the design of their surgical instruments.
